Håvard Visnes qualified as an MD in 2006 and physical therapist 1998 and currently he works as an orthopaedic surgeon at Kysthospitalet i Hagavik near Bergen, Norway.
He is also a research scientist at the Oslo Sports Trauma Research Center.
Visnes research area is jumper's knee and eccentric training. From 2006 until 2011 he has been the principal investigator for a prospective study focusing in risk factors for patellar tendinopathy (jumper's knee). Data collection is completed in June 2011 and the articles are under preparation.
His sports background is volleyball and he played elite volleyball for more than 10 years, and he has represented Norway on the national team during this period.
The last years his role in sports has been as sports physician for elite volleyball and football clubs in Bergen.
