Tonje Wåle Flørenes, MD, was educated at the University of Lund in the south of Sweden January 2004. She had her internship in the winter wonderland of Lillehammer. She continued to work at Lillehammer as a registrar at the Orthopaedic department for nine months after she had finished her internship.
Tonje worked as a PhD student at the OSTRC between June 2006 and June 2010. Her Phd project was part of the FIS Injury Surveillance System and focused on registering and describing injuries among elite skiers and snowboarders.
Tonje has also been a team doctor for the Norwegian women soccer team 2007 and 2008, and was one of the doctors in the Norwegian Olympic team during the Olympic Games in Beijing 2008 and Vancouver 2010.
